The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and mobile applications into mental healthcare has revolutionized the way individual’s access and manage mental health services. This paper examines the intersection of AI technologies, mobile health (mHealth) apps, and mental healthcare through the lens of social informatics. It explores how these technologies influence patient engagement, treatment personalization, and accessibility, while also addressing ethical concerns, data privacy, and the social implications of such advancements. By adopting a social informatics viewpoint, the paper highlights both the potential benefits and challenges that arise from the deployment of AI-powered mobile apps in mental health interventions. The findings aim to inform healthcare practitioners, developers, and policymakers about the future of digital mental healthcare.
